2,10MB Ecuador Nyhedsbrev - Oktober 2014
In August I arrived on San Cristobal Island - tired and jet lagged, but really excited to begin my journey after quitting my job and going abroad.
Now I have spent nearly three months here in the Galapagos and it has been an amazing time so far. I do not want to leave and therefore extended my stay for another six weeks. I am looking forward to it very much.

My name is Theresa Sieksmeier, I am 21 years old and I have been living on San Cristobal Island as a volunteer for Projects Abroad for the last 4 weeks. I support a local teacher, Lider Mendoza, and help him with his daily classes.
1,66MB Ecuador Nyhedsbrev - August 2014
Looking back on my time here on San Cristobal Island, I am instantly flooded with memories and experiences I will never forget. I spent a month here in the Galapagos working in a kindergarten, and it has been the best month of my life by far. Being 17 and coming to a new country alone made me ask many questions.
1,41MB Ecuador Nyhedsbrev - Juli 2014
One day, I brought a piano to class that can be rolled up and they had never seen anything like it. We sang the song 'Amarillo' together and each child took turns sitting next to me while I taught them a few things. All in all, it was a lovely morning.

Last month, we held French classes for the first time in the Galapagos. After 4 weeks of hard work, the students successfully completely their first module of basic French, which was conducted in English by our Canadian volunteer, Jeremie Durand. In this month’s newsletter, we would like to share some photos from the class.
2,94MB Ecuador Nyhedsbrev - April 2014
When I was a little kid, I dreamt about going to the Galápagos Islands, but nothing could have prepared me for how amazing this place truly is. The nature is so special and different and the best thing for me has been working on a conservation project.

My name is Ann-Cathrin, I am nineteen and I come from Germany. I have spent the last six months in Ecuador of which I have been volunteering with Projects Abroad on San Cristòbal for five months. There is nothing else to say than that it has truly been an amazing experience that I would never change in my life.
2,01MB Ecuador Nyhedsbrev - Februar 2014
Hello, once again. It has been an exceptionally busy month in the Galapagos, and in particular on San Cristobal Island, where the Projects Abroad main office is located. We celebrated the date of the creation of the province of the Galapagos Islands on the 18th February, 1973 and the annexation of the islands by the Ecuadorian government on the 12th February 1832, with a fireworks display and fiesta, when all the Projects Abroad volunteers marched around the town with our local staff.

When I arrived in San Cristóbal on the 2nd of December 2013, I had been travelling for more than 24 hours. I would never have thought that the day could get any more adventurous than the previous night, which I’d spent at Guayaquil Airport sitting on a bench, trying to not fall asleep while figuring out what I had to do the next day and why the Wi-Fi wasn’t working. But i was possible.
1,96MB Ecuador Nyhedsbrev - December 2013
I would have never dared to expect my great desire, volunteering on the Galapagos Islands for 3 months, coming true. I still can’t believe that I am living in San Cristobal for 5 weeks now.
1,46MB Ecuador Nyhedsbrev - November 2013
November is here again. While it is snowing and flooding in other parts of the world, here in the Galapagos we are lounging on our beaches and enjoying the sunshine. Just over two years ago, in October 2011, our first volunteer came here to work, and the number of volunteers continues to increase.

Being a volunteer for Projects Abroad is an exciting, funny and new experience for anyone interested in travelling and working.
1,84MB Ecuador Nyhedsbrev - September 2013
After five weeks on the Galapagos Islands, I can say that I am really enjoying my time here; living so differently from what I am used to at home. The fact that I am living with a host family gives me the opportunity to be part of the local community.
2,59MB Ecuador Nyhedsbrev - August 2013
Seven weeks ago, I arrived in San Cristóbal - confused, tired and excited to begin my journey. Now after living in the Galápagos for seven weeks, I can call it my home. I am sad to be leaving on Saturday, but I am happy to know that I will look back on this experience and only have positive memories.
2,44MB Ecuador Nyhedsbrev - Juli 2013
If I had to sum up my experience as a volunteer with Projects Abroad Galapagos in one word, it would be “surprising.” Having previously been a student on San Cristobal Island, I thought I knew at least a little about how the culture, people, and daily life in the Galapagos functioned. To find out so many new things and meet so many great people has been unexpected.
2,30MB Ecuador Nyhedsbrev - Juni 2013
I started working as a volunteer on San Cristobal Island in March 2013. After three months of working with children, I now see what kind of a difference you can make. Earning the trust of a 5 year old autistic boy or giving all your attention to a child who can't focus is hard but rewarding work.
2,29MB Ecuador Nyhedsbrev - Maj 2013
After living on the Island of San Cristobal for 4 months, I feel that I have settled in. If you think life could get boring on a tiny island like this really quickly, I can assure you of the contrary.
1,99MB Ecuador Nyhedsbrev - April 2013
I arrived on the 2nd of April in the Galápagos Islands. During my introduction day I have been told that it was the school holidays in the Galápagos Islands until May but that English courses are proposed in the premises of Projects Abroad as from 15 April. For two weeks we had to work on the teaching project without students.

I arrived in San Cristóbal at the beginning of January. It is my first time ever volunteering - I always wanted to work with children and so I chose the care project offered by Projects Abroad.
